Creating a Pack - Sectional Appendices / Signal Diagrams

Sectional Appendices and Signal Diagrams are crucial reference documents for safe and efficient railway operations. Accurail integrates these essential resources directly into your Safe Work Pack (SWP), ensuring you have easy access to the most up-to-date information. Let's explore how to effectively use this feature:

Automatic Population of Diagrams

Accurail streamlines your workflow by automatically populating relevant diagrams:

  • When you enter ELRs in the 'Location Information' section, the system automatically searches for corresponding diagrams.
  • All available diagrams for your specified ELRs will be listed in this section.

Accessing and Managing Diagrams

  • Click to expand and see a list of all available diagrams for your work area.

Adding Diagrams:

  • To add a diagram to your SWP, click in the checkbox next to the diagram name.
  • You can add multiple diagrams as needed for your work.

Removing Diagrams:

  • If you've added a diagram that's not necessary, simply deselect it to remove from your SWP.

Customising Your Selection:

  • Review the automatically populated diagrams and add or remove as appropriate for your specific work.
  • Ensure you include all relevant diagrams but avoid cluttering your SWP with unnecessary information.

Types of Diagrams Available

  1. Sectional Appendices:

    • Provide detailed information about track layout, speeds, and other permanent features of the railway.
    • Essential for understanding the characteristics of your work area.
  2. Signal Diagrams:

    • Show the layout and relationship of signals in your work area.
    • Crucial for works involving or impacting signalling systems.

Best Practices for Using Sectional Appendices and Signal Diagrams

Relevant Selection:

  • Include all diagrams relevant to your work, but avoid overloading your SWP with unnecessary information.
  • Consider the nature of your work when selecting diagrams (e.g., signalling work requires more detailed signal diagrams).

Cross-Referencing:

  • Use these diagrams in conjunction with other sections of your SWP, such as the Limits of Work and Hazards sections.
  • Ensure consistency between the information in your diagrams and other parts of your SWP.
